To an innovative carbon reduction project
Helping Orcadians to decarbonise affordably
For electric vehicles, smart chargers and car club
ReFLEX Orkney is pioneering an integrated, affordable, low-carbon energy system for the future.
ReFLEX Orkney membership is free and becoming a member gives you access to ReFLEX products and services available to Orkney residents. You do not need to buy any products or services to be a member. You need to be 18 or over.
By joining you will become a member of an innovative carbon reduction project. We will help you better understand your energy use and you can help us shape the project and demonstrate how communities can create smart local energy systems.
Sign up to become a member. Download a membership pack. Then fill in, sign, and return by email, post or we can take your details over the phone.
Verify Orkney as your primary place of residence. We're asking for proof of address (such as a utility or council tax bill) with your application because discounts available through ReFLEX Orkney are only available to Orkney residents.
Access your member benefits. Once approved, you’ll be given a unique member ID number. One of our team will be in touch to follow up on the ReFLEX Orkney products and services that may be of interest to you. You do not need to get products or services to be a member.
Holiday homes and second homes. We appreciate that people with holiday homes and second homes in Orkney are keen to decarbonise too. However, if Orkney is not your primary place of residence then under our funding rules, you are not eligible to be a member or benefit from our discounts. But you can keep up to date with the project via our newsletter.
Do you live in the outer or inner isles? Check out our Isles residents factsheet for info on accessing ReFLEX Orkney's services where you live.
Subscribe to the ReFLEX Orkney newsletter and stay up-to-date.
As part of your membership application, you’ll be asked to sign terms and conditions which will allow us to access your data so that we can better understand energy use across Orkney and how our services are working for you. You can read more about these terms and conditions below.
By sharing data* on products and services performance, members directly support ReFLEX by enabling the project to continuously monitor and improve the integrated energy system for the ReFLEX Orkney community.
The ReFLEX project receives UKRI funding in part to encourage and test new business models that will make decarbonising more affordable, and membership is a key component of our model. You can read more about the ReFLEX project here.
*The core aim of ReFLEX Orkney is enabling reduction in carbon and encouraging smart energy use. Because of this, gathering and analysing data is vital to the success of this innovative project. When you become a member we ask you to sign our membership terms of use so that we can analyse your energy and carbon-use data gathered from the products and services that you take up as part of the project. For more information on data sharing please see our membership privacy statement.
